As the Turkish plant and landscaping industry looks towards Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and North Africa as potential new target markets, it has also been focused on extending its market share in Europe, where it has been exporting for the last few years.
The Turkish Ornamental Plants Industry, which produced a total of 1.718 billion cut flowers, indoor and outdoor ornamental plants and flower bulbs across an area of 52.5 million square meters last year, closed 2019 with 43 million dollars in imports and 80.4 million dollars in exports.
In 2019, the industry provided 100 thousand jobs in direct employment and 500 thousand in indirect employment, benefitting from Turkey's ecological and logistical advantages, as well as opportunities generated by the November 2020 Flower and Plant Show. The industry now aims to expand its stake in the 40 billion dollar ornamental plants market.
